How long have you been practicing cosmetic dentistry?
There are no rules for how long is “long enough.” However, the important thing to remember here is that you want a dentist who is strictly a cosmetic dentist. Remember any general dentist can call himself a cosmetic dentist without taking any additional training other than the minimal requirement to be a general dentist. Patients need to do their homework and look for cosmetic dentists who are graduates of an advanced cosmetic training program– this is an additional degree beyond regular dental school. That is how they can be assured that the cosmetic dentist has the proper training and skills.

What is the procedure going to cost?
It is an unfortunate fact that dental and medical insurance does not typically cover all aspects of cosmetic dentistry procedures. It’s important to know exactly how much the procedure is going to cost, and what your financing options are.

What sort of qualifications do you have?
Not all cosmetic dental schools are the same. The nation’s pre-eminent dental school is the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI). If available, you want a dentist who has graduated from this school.
